Job Title: Production Engineer

The Production Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. Duties include researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency, and planning factory layouts to optimize production.

Position is Monday to Friday in a climate-controlled warehouse.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Exempt position (salary will depend on experience & education)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cost Estimating

Review customer provided specifications/blueprints.
Review machine and production specifications with production staff to evaluate feasibility and optimize manufacturability of blueprints/layouts.
Suggest modifications to improve design feasibility and increase cost efficiency.
Coordinate with department supervisors to establish material use, most efficient machines, estimated set-up times, running speed, and any manual labor involved.
Coordinate with tool designers to determine the most precise tool and material needs. Conduct outsourcing for special materials as well as secondary processes or services (e.g. plating/coating, heat treatment, tooling manufacture, etc.).
Create bill of materials (BOM) and quotations utilizing ERP system, summarize cost and production breakdown whenever applicable to simplify order entry and production control.
Problem solving by analysis, trial, DOE, Shainin, or other statistical methods
TPM- analyze machine downtime, create proposals, and lead improvements
Identify root causes of manufacturing waste and provide solutions
Spring Design

Review and approval of spring designs with the use of SMI software by checking resulting stresses, deflections and loads.
Create and evaluate designs/blueprints/layouts by considering a number of factors including production quantities, design configuration, size and type of material and overall manufacturability.
Prepare, review and assign dimensions and tolerances per ANSI 14.5 GD&T
Maintain current records of blueprints and engineering related documents according to IATF-16949 requirements.
Approve blueprints for release to production.
Additional duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
1+ years engineering experience
Knowledge of SolidWorks.
Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing a plus
Must have good mathematical skills to calculate quickly and accurately.
Ability to convey ideas and comprehend detailed instructions.
Proficient with verbal and written skills (including technical writing).
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Ability to problem solve
Must be able to work independently, yet effectively with others
Ability to multi-task
