Position Overview:

Under general direction of the Plant Manager and Safety/Compliance Manager, the Safety Coordinator serves as a lead contact and assists the site with the development and the implementation of health, safety, and environmental regulatory programs. Responsibilities involve developing and implementing procedures, training, and audit programs to enhance site H&S programs. If and when the unthinkable happens, this individual will be required to assist in the handling of near miss, first aid, and recordable incident treatment and documentation. This role also plays a critical part in ensuring that H&S culture is integrated in a consistent manner into operations through employee engagement activities in coordination with HR and leadership teams.

Health & Safety Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Participate in the new hire safety orientation program and provide ongoing job specific safety training
 Perform daily site safety inspections and inspect safety equipment
 Ensure contractor compliance regarding safety and health requirements
 Participate in fact finding causal analysis for injury/incident investigations and prepare incident and injury reports
 Manage all site safety documentation
 Facilitate mass safety meetings and targeted job-related training
 Compile materials for safety meetings, prepare agendas, and record meeting minutes
 Coordinate and lead safety committee meetings
 Requires the ability to work independently with minimal guidance on safety and health issues and program implementation
 Assist in implementing EHS programs and monitor activities for compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, etc).
General Duties and Responsibilities:
 Ability to use technology. Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft office, email, and other advanced technology and computer software.
 Communication skills. Must be able to communicate safety instructions and concerns to employees and managers. Engage in constructive, collaborative, goal driven discussions with individuals across the organization.
 Detail oriented. The safety coordinator must pay attention to details and must be able to recognize and adhere to specific safety standards and government regulations.
 Physical stamina. The safety coordinator must be able to stand for extended periods and be able to safely walk our 60-acre site.
 Critical thinking skills. Our safety coordinator must be able to solve problems and be able to find solutions to unsafe working conditions and environmental concerns in the workplace.

Education and Experience
• EHS: 1 year (Preferred)
• OSHA: 1 year (Preferred)
• Some College (Required)
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or technical related field (Preferred)
