The Senior Purchasing Agent will attend to the activities of the purchasing department along with the inventory levels of such purchases. To purchase supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while maintaining lowest possible inventory levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Helps to develop and implement purchasing procedures/strategies and sequence of operations within department to optimize workflow.
With purchasing manager, reviews market, price, delivery conditions, and trends to determine present and future material availability.
Initiates purchases of stock and non-stock items as required.
Assists with disposal of surplus material or scrap products.
Deals with supplier when serious variations arise in delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale.
May purchase large or complex items.
Approve purchasing contracts.
Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instruction, policies, and procedures.
Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability.
Notifies supervisor or manager of any potential safety hazards.
Performs other tasks and duties as required by management.

EDUCATION, BACKGROUND AND REQUIREMENTS:

BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration preferred or other BS degree preferred or related work experience.
Microsoft/Dynamics, Navision experience preferred.
Detail oriented with good time management skills.
Negotiation experience.
Must exhibit good interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work and communicate in an effective manner with vendors.
